Overloading of any ship is dangerous to its operation and stability. An overloaded ship will be difficult to handle, especially in an emergency or bad weather. Overloaded vessels also tend to use excessive fuel and are more likely to swamp or capsize.
How about us? What is in our ‘lives shopping cart’? Sometimes we carry too much, even when they are not needed. We get overloaded with materialism, or addiction, or sinful habits – the list is endless. We ought to do something about them if we intend to have a smooth sail to our destination (heaven).
It feels good to be free. It is a blessing to drop that load and travel lighter rather than being overloaded and risking the opportunity of making it to our destination.
