PSALM 4
“Who will show any good?” (Psalm 4:6) David’s statements appear to capture the negative view that so easily develops in today’s world. Crime, accidents, evil politicians, the bad economy, and notable people behaving badly appear to dominate the front pages of newspapers and top topics on the Internet or television. Our discussions at work and at home are filled with problems. Where can we go for better information?
David turned to the Lord in his despair, and he was comforted and his prayer was answered. He discovered unending encouragement in God, rather than hoping for momentary good from changed circumstances.
David faced opposition throughout his life, both before and after he became king of Israel. But at the end of the day, he could lie down in peace and sleep, for God had positioned him in a secure way.
It is a terrific approach to start and end each day by reflecting on the truths in Psalm 4 about God’s love for us.
