MATTHEW 8:1–4
Joy, despite lacking medical experience, eagerly accepted the opportunity to assist a medical mission in a remote region.
She met a woman there who had a terrible illness that was curable. Joy was disgusted by the woman’s deformed leg, but she knew she had to do something. Her patient started crying as she was cleaning and bandaging the leg. Joy asked if she was harming her out of concern. “No,” she answered. “I have not been touched by anyone in nine years.”
Ancient Jewish culture had strict guidelines to prevent the spread of leprosy, requiring its victims to live alone and outside the camp. However, a leper approached Jesus, and He touched the man, confirming His willingness to help.
By touching the sick leg of a lonely woman, Joy demonstrated the brave, reconciling love of Jesus. It only took one touch to change things.
🙏Lord Jesus, help us to show the fearless love you showed when you walked this earth.
