OBSERVING BIRTHDAYS

PSALM 71:5-18

Growing up, most of us enjoyed birthdays. We were happy to be older and enjoyed the balloons, gifts, and cake.

As we got older and took on more responsibilities, birthdays became less exciting. The older we became, the more responsible we got.

In Psalm 71, the psalmist expresses gratitude for God’s presence throughout his life. As he ages, he acknowledges God’s strength and power, recognising His blessings throughout his life. This reminder highlights the importance of gratitude as we grow older.

Birthdays can serve as a reminder of God’s faithfulness. Furthermore, they enable us to get closer to the One who has been by our side for the entire time.

Growing older can help us grow closer to God!

🎶Nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!

E’en though it be a cross that raiseth me,

still all my song shall be,

nearer, my God, to thee;

nearer, my God, to thee, nearer to thee!
