PROVERBS 15:16-23
Thomas à Kempis, a theologian who lived in the fourteenth century, once remarked that no one is so wise as to know everything perfectly. Men should not rely solely on their own judgment, but rather be open to hearing what others have to say. Thomas understood the value of consulting with counselors when establishing life plans.
Wise persons should be open to several sources of advice in order to discern God’s plans for their lives. Through these sources, God will reveal His guiding wisdom. A person who seeks the intelligent opinion of others demonstrates his awareness that he may be ignoring some critical factors when making decisions.
The wisest man in Israel, Solomon, wrote about the value of seeking advice from others (Proverbs 15:22).
According to Isaiah 9:6, the Lord is a Wonderful Counselor who longs to uphold us by means of wise counsel. Let us find them and give thanks to God for them. Let them assist us in getting a better understanding of His plans for our lives.
🙏🏼Help us Lord to seek wise counsel and multiply our chances for sound decisions.
