EPHESIANS 2:1-10
I initially believed he was joking. But he was dead serious when he asked, “Do you believe we could get to heaven with the right technology?” I suppose it made me happy that my friend wished to enter heaven. But his “do it yourself” approach would never get him to his desired destination.
Paul must have had similar thoughts regarding the people of Ephesus. He took great care to explain in his letter to them that God had raised us up with Jesus and seated us with Him in the heavenly realms (Ephesians 2:6). He genuinely wanted them to realise that only through the work of Jesus would they be able to enter heaven.
It is simple to confuse this at times. We overlook the fact that all we require to experience eternal life with God is the gift of faith in Jesus’ atoning sacrifice.
We are saved by God’s work.
