NOT ENOUGH?

2 CORINTHIANS 9:10–15; HEBREWS 13:16

During a car ride after church, my daughter refused to share her Goldfish crackers with her siblings. I had made a connection between her snack and the story in class about Jesus feeding thousands with just a few loaves and fish. Despite the lesson, she was adamant about not sharing, claiming there was not enough for everyone.

Giving can be difficult because it feels like there is not enough to go around. We may worry that if we share, we will end up with less for ourselves.

In 2 Corinthians 9:10–11, Paul reminds us that God is the source of everything we own and desires to enrich us in every way so that we can be generous. The mathematics of paradise is based on abundance rather than scarcity. Because God promises to take care of us even while we give generously to others, we can share with joy.

🙏May God, the Father, take good care of you. Help you to think of others today and to share your goodness with them. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
