NEVER DISAPPOINT

LAMENTATIONS 3:22-23

Playing on the seesaw at school was one of my favourite pastimes when I was a child. On each end of the board, a person would sit and bounce the other up and down. Sometimes the person who was down would remain there while his playmate was left screaming to be let down. The cruelest trick, however, was getting off the seesaw and fleeing while your friend was in the air. He would suffer a painful bump as he fell to the ground.

Jesus may appear to do such to us at times. We have faith that He will be there for us through life’s highs and lows. But when things go wrong and we end up with scrapes and bruises, it can seem as though He has abandoned us, leaving our lives to brutally crumble.

However, Lamentations 3 reminds us that even when everything seems to be going wrong, God is still faithful until the end because His steadfast love never quits and His mercies never come to an end (vs. 22). This indicates that even though we may feel alone in the midst of our suffering, we are not. He is there as our dependable friend who will never desert us even though we cannot always feel His presence!

When everyone else fails, Jesus is our most trusted friend.

🙏🏼Thank You, Lord, that we can trust in Your faithful presence even when we feel alone.
