PSALM 107:23-32
The ancient people of Axum (or Aksum), a nation on the Red Sea in modern Ethiopia, learned that the monsoon season’s harsh winds could be harnessed by sail for fast sailing. They learnt to maneuver their way through the storm rather than fearing the tremendous winds and rain.
Psalm 107 paints a beautiful picture of God allowing storms to come our way and then providing assistance to help us through them (Ps. 107:25,28).
Trusting God for guidance in difficult situations is a biblical theme. Many people, according to Hebrews 11, overcame their troubles by exercising faith and experiencing God’s grace, provision, and deliverance.
Unprecedented adversity is unavoidable. While our natural reaction may be to flee the situation, we might instead ask God to teach us how to trust Him to navigate us through the storm.
Turn to the Lord and put your trust in Him when life feels like a stormy sea with smashing waves of agony and grief. He will bring you comfort and peace.
It is better to go through the storm with Christ than to have a smooth sailing without Him.
🙏🏼 Lord, take us through the storms of life.
