MY FATHER IS BY MY SIDE

MARK 14:32-50; JOHN 16:32

A woman who was experiencing loneliness wrote on her Facebook page, “I do not really feel lonely because I do not have any friends. I am friendly with many people. I am aware that there are others who can console me, hold me, talk to me, take care of me, and think of me. But they are unable to stay by my side always and forever.”

That loneliness is something Jesus can relate to. I assume that during His earthly ministry, Jesus saw and heard loneliness in the eyes and voices of lepers and blind people. But more than anything, He must have felt it when His closest friends abandoned Him (Mark 14:50).

But, He also acknowledged His unwavering faith in His Father’s presence when He foresaw the disciples’ desertion (John 16:32).

We will all go through lonely periods because we are all humans. Nonetheless, Jesus reveals that the Father is always present and with us. God is eternal and omnipresent. We can always have Him by our sides, constantly and forever.

🙏🏻When we feel lonely, heavenly Father, help us to remember that You are always with us.
