2 CORINTHIANS 8:1–9
Dan unexpectedly arrived at a church instead of a home, carrying the pepperoni pizza meant to be delivered. He was met by the pastor.
The pastor asked Dan about his life’s challenges, and he revealed that he had been struggling financially. He then handed over a cheque for 1.2 million naira to him as a tip. It was a deliberate plan. He had asked the pizza shop to send their financially stranded delivery worker, who could not pay some bills.
The first Christians in Jerusalem faced poverty, but a church rushed to their aid. The Macedonian Christians, despite their own need, gave sacrificially, showing the Corinthians’ and us how we should be generous. This act reflects Jesus’ sacrifice to meet our spiritual poverty.
Dan shared the church’s kindness with his customers and generously donated the remaining tips and part of the gift from the church to those in need, demonstrating Christ’s sacrifice and multiplying the act of generosity.
Our generosity meets needs and glorifies Jesus.
🙏Lord, You sometimes meet our needs in surprising ways. Use us to reach out to others as well.
