1 TIMOTHY 6:6-19
Money being the root of all evil is a common misinterpretation of the Bible. Not so. The love of money, according to the Bible, “is the root of all evil” (1 Timothy 6:10). This point of difference is crucial.
Are you currently setting money aside for anything? Searching for additional methods to earn a few more dollars or naira? You may already be aware of how distracting money can be. We often think, “I wish I had the money for that” when we see people with better gadgets and attire.
One of Jesus’ main topics was money. He spoke extensively about it! It is not that money in itself is bad. But He issued a warning that putting our faith in money and relying on it to make us feel better about ourselves or get our way can sever our relationship with God. We may no longer rely on Him to guide us if we are depending on money to get where we want to be in life.
It is interesting to note that God measures our “wealth” based on how we live, not what we possess. Do we judge ourselves according to what we can afford or the size of our mansion? Let us pause for a moment to consider what is most important.
And for those who are relieved that they do not have much wealth to occupy them, keep in mind that if we are not rich in Christ, our poverty on earth does not ensure a place in heaven.
🙏 Help us Lord to be rich in You.
