ACTS 4:5-20
A church organisation asked a speaker to address their gathering. “Talk about God,” the coordinator told him, “but leave out Jesus.”
“Why?” the man questioned, startled.
“Well,” the coordinator added, “some of our prominent members feel uncomfortable with Jesus. Just use God, and we shall be fine.”
Accepting such directions, however, was a difficulty for the speaker, who acknowledged subsequently, “Without Jesus, I have no message.”
Something similar was required of disciples of Jesus in the days of the early church. Local religious leaders conferred together to urge the disciples not to speak about Jesus (Acts 4:17). However, the disciples knew better (v. 20).
It is contradictory to say we believe in God but reject His Son, Jesus Christ.
The name of Jesus need not be avoided because salvation can be found in no one else.
