MARATHON

MATTHEW 28:8

Most people run a marathon between four and five hours. A new study shows that even novice runners who take on a marathon significantly improved their heart health.

The idea for the modern marathon was inspired by the legend of an ancient Greek messenger who ran from the site of Marathon to Athens, a distance of about forty kilometers, or nearly twenty five miles, with the news of an important Greek victory over an invading army of Persians in 490 B.C. Today, people run marathons for the personal satisfaction of an athletic achievement, but Pheidippides had a greater purpose behind his effort – each step he took was for the joy of delivering the good news to his kinsmen!

When Mary and Mary Magdalene arrived at the tomb of Jesus, they found it empty. An angel told them that Jesus had risen from the dead and directed them to go quickly and tell His disciples. They ran to deliver the news.

We may not need to run too far to find someone who needs to know about our Saviour. He won the battle against sin, death and the devil so we might live victoriously forever!
