Saint Teresa of Calcutta was a Roman Catholic nun and missionary who lived from 1910 to 1997. Many people admire her selfless service to Christ and those in need. Through the Missionaries of Charity in Calcutta, India, she spent 50 years ministering to the poor, sick, orphaned, and dying.
For Mother Teresa, by effacing herself, she became herself.
Many of us, I believe, are scared of what would happen if we accept Jesus’ command to deny ourselves, take up our cross every day, and follow Him.
Our Lord reminded His disciples that He came to give us abundant life (John 10:10). We are invited to lay down our lives for Christ, discovering the fullness of life in Him in the process.
We find fullness of life in Christ as we give up our lives for Him.
