ROMANS 5:12–21
Mom saw Samuel, who was four years old, running away from the baby kittens. He was instructed not to touch them. She inquired, “Samuel, did you touch the kittens?”
“No!” he answered firmly. Then Mom asked again, “Were they soft?”
“Yes, and the black one mewed,” he added.
For a toddler, we smile at such duplicity. But Samuel’s disobedience exemplifies our human condition, as we are all born sinners. Sin affects everyone, including kings and four-year-olds.
God is not waiting for us to make a mistake so He can hit hard. His business is restoration, grace, and forgiveness. All we have to do is acknowledge that our sin is neither cute nor justifiable and turn to Him in faith and repentance.
