PSALM 91:1-8
About 140 houses on two streets joined by a cemetery were served by a lad who delivered newspapers. He had to leave at three in the morning to walk through that graveyard in the dark since he delivered the morning newspaper. He would occasionally become so terrified that he would actually start to run! He would be terrified until he was on the opposite side, standing in the safety of a streetlight. The light banished the dreadful darkness.
The psalmist knew that fear and darkness go hand in hand, but he also understood that God is stronger than those fears (Psalm 91:5–6). Jesus, the Light of the World, was sent by His Father to earth (John 8:12).
We can find strength, help, and comfort in the light of God’s love, grace, and truth.
