MARK 10:28β31; JOHN 10:9β10
My nephews introduced me to their new chore system, choropoly boards. These colourful electronic boards track their chores, with each task adding points to their “spending” account. Misdeeds, like leaving the back door open, result in fines. High points lead to rewards like computer time, and misdeeds deduct from the total, making them motivated to complete their chores.
I wish I had such a motivational tool, but God has provided us with motivation through Jesus’ promise of a life of abundance and worth, both now and eternally, in His kingdom.
We serve a generous God who accepts our weakest efforts, even welcoming latecomers to His kingdom and rewarding them generously as old-timers (see Matt. 20:1β16). We should joyfully serve Him today, as He rewards our good deeds and does not punish as we deserve.
πLord, remind us that following You has huge importance and is well worth it.
