LET US REASON TOGETHER

ISAIAH 1:16-20

To some people, God may seem like a great idea, but an unattainable pursuit. Feeling loved by the Creator of our world touches our emotions, but our minds tell us that it is only a dream.

The Bible is full of God’s invitations to broken humanity to come into His loving embrace. In the various lockdowns caused by the pandemic, many have written about their feelings of sad isolation. Some were driven to suicide, overwhelmed by a breakdown in both trust and a sense of belonging. Life is not easy. It confronts us with seemingly insurmountable challenges; seasons when we struggle with the ghosts of the past or just look at each other to see our jagged edges.

God realises that there is nothing we can do for ourselves (John 15: 5). But He has created a home for all those who are afraid, desperately seeking new hope. “Come, let us reason together” (Isaiah 1:18) is God’s invitation to each of us.

The only reason some of us are on the Christian path is because we have accepted this invitation. However, we are not part of an exclusive club. God is accessible to all. The turning point is when we accept, often with great reservations, to take God at His Word and begin to reason with Him.

🙏Lord, help us respond to Your invitation to talk things through.
