LET US COMPLETE THE RACE

ECCLESIASTES 4:9–12

Two competitors in the 5,000-meter race at the Rio Olympics in 2016 attracted international attention. American Abbey D’Agostino and New Zealander Nikki Hamblin collided and fell approximately 3,200 meters into the race. Abbey got up fast, but not before stopping to assist Nikki. Shortly after the two athletes resumed their running, Abbey started to stumble, suffering damage to her right leg from the incident. Nikki turned to support her fellow competitor in finishing the race. Nikki was there to greet Abbey as she finally staggered across the finish line. What a lovely example of supporting one another!

Two people are better than one, because if one falls, the other can help him/her up (Ecclesiastes 4:9–10). This concept is particularly relevant in spiritual races, where individuals need each other for support and encouragement rather than competition.

The spiritual race requires not being alone. If you are being led to be a Nikki or Abbey in someone’s life, respond to God’s prompting today and finish the race.

🙏Thank You, Lord, for encouraging other believers to support me on my journey. Help me to seek opportunities to help others.
