MARK 6:7–12; 2 CORINTHIANS 9:8
Imagine embarking on a trip without any essentials, clothing, money, or credit cards, which seems both unwise and terrifying.
Jesus instructed His twelve disciples to carry only their staff, no bread, bags, or money. Later, He instructed them to take purses, bags, and swords, and if they did not have a sword, to sell their cloaks and buy one.
What is the point, then? Putting our faith in God to provide is key.
Jesus questioned the disciples if they were in need of anything, making reference to their first journey. They replied, “Nothing,” according to Luke 22:35. The disciples had all they required to fulfil the mission to which God had called them. He was able to provide them with what was needed to carry out His mission (Mark 6:7).
Do we have faith in God to meet our needs? Let us trust that He will provide for our needs so that we can do His work.
