JOHN 10:7–16
One of the most enduring melodies in Christian music, especially for young followers, is “Jesus loves me; this I know, for the Bible tells me so.” This song’s lyric, which was written by Anna B. Warner, gently reinforces our relationship with Him: we are loved.
In ancient Israel, a true shepherd was distinguished by their deep knowledge and love for their sheep. This deep care and understanding of their sheep led to Jesus’ famous statement, “I am the good shepherd, and know my sheep, and am known of mine… My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me.” (John 10:14, 27)
Jesus knows and loves us, and we can trust His purposes and rest in His care. As we face life’s challenges, be at rest, knowing we are known and loved by the Shepherd of our hearts.
