JOHN 20:24-31
In 1834, Charlotte Elliott wrote the hymn “Just As I Am.” She began to suffer from crippling fatigue at age 33 and became disabled. She felt useless, and this inner anguish led her to start questioning her faith in Christ. As a reaction to her uncertainty, she penned “Just As I Am.”
Jesus asked the disciple known in history as “Doubting Thomas” to inspect the scars of His crucifixion after His resurrection (John 20:27). Thomas ultimately accepted the resurrection after touching Jesus’ wounds.
Today’s Christians are the ones who have not seen but yet believe. However, there are times when the situations we find ourselves in on earth leave us with profound doubts. Jesus invites us to approach Him just as we are.
