EPHESIANS 4:11-16
Once, a restaurant dishwasher identified herself as an Underwater Ceramic Technician in her introduction. Some jobs have been given important-sounding, obscure, and even bizarre job titles in an effort to make them seem more significant.
In Ephesians 4:11, the apostle Paul listed some of God’s gifts to the church. He did not intend for these to be taken as lofty job titles. For the body to operate properly, each part is required. There is no superior part to another.
The main consideration was what these gifts were for. They served to edify the body of Christ and equip the saints for ministry activity until we are all fully developed into the image of Christ (vv.12-13).
The title we hold does not really matter. It is crucial that we strengthen God’s people and bless both those inside and outside the church. It will not matter whether we are transferred to another function or no longer have a certain title if we appraise our effectiveness by the standard that the Bible provides.
🙏🏼Lord, help us not to be concerned
about what titles we hold, but instead that our lives might show others Your grace.
