I’M ALIVE!

EPHESIANS 2:1-10

A 52-year-old mother of two was unaware that she was one of many individuals whose names were wrongly listed as dead in the US government database in 2011. When her disability benefits were terminated and her rent and loan payments were returned unpaid, she questioned what was happening. When she went to the bank to resolve the problem, the clerk informed her that her accounts had been closed because she was no longer alive.

When the apostle Paul stated that the Ephesian Christians had once been dead, he was not making the same mistake as the US government. They were dead because they were separated from God, enslaved to sin, and destined to suffer God’s wrath. What a hopeless situation!

However, God in His goodness intervened to change this predicament for them and for us. By sending His Son, Jesus, to this earth, the living God – who, according to Romans 4:17, gives life to the dead – poured forth His abundant mercy and immense love. We are brought to life by Christ’s death and resurrection.

We go from death to life when we believe in the suffering, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. We can now live to celebrate His goodness!

Accepting Jesus’ death gives us life.

🙏🏼 Jesus’ death is our ransom. His work is sufficient. On Him we believe.
Lord, graciously save those who are yet to accept Your salvation.
