HONOURABLE WAY OF LIFE

1 PETER 2:9–12

A respected leader and statesman publicly criticised his country’s honourable MPs for their dishonourable lifestyles, corruption, pompous attitudes, and unsavoury language. He urged them to reform, but his comments were met with backlash, leading to counter-criticisms from the MPs.

Following Christ is a privilege, not a duty. As a chosen people, a royal priesthood, a holy nation, and God’s special possession, we are called to honour Him through our lifestyles.

Peter advises us to avoid sinful desires and adopt behaviour worthy of Christ. Paul’s letter to the Philippians emphasises the importance of pure, lovely, admirable, excellent, and praiseworthy qualities. These characteristics honour our Lord and are reflected in our behaviour, as they are qualities that are commendable and honourable.

We honour God’s name when we call Him our Father and live like His children.
