JOHN 13:36–38; LUKE 22:54–62
Self-confident people are generally more successful. But there are times when we must rely on God.
Peter, despite his courage and esteem for Jesus, was confident—or, dare we say, overconfident—of himself. He must experience the insufficiency of his own strength to realise God’s support.
Peter believed his love for Jesus was strong enough to withstand challenges, but a young girl challenged him, destroying his confidence. He needed liberation to follow Christ closely, adapt to God’s plans, and remain faithful.
Peter, having learned this lesson, will rely on the strength of his Lord, who can accomplish everything. The same is expected of us.
🙏Father, you loved us so much that you sent your only son, Jesus, to die so that we could have eternal life. Give us strength to stand for Him as we rely on Him.
