LUKE 24:44โ53
The gods’ actions in the heavens above impacted the earth below, according to the Roman mythology of Jesus’ day. Thunderbolts were released whenever Zeus became angry. The ancient formula was, “As above, so below.”
However, Jesus had a habit of reversing this. As below, so above, He taught. When a believer prays, God responds. Angels rejoice when a sinner repents. When a mission is completed successfully, God is glorified. The Holy Spirit is grieved when a child of God rebels.
We believe these things, yet we cannot seem to remember them. We forget how important our prayers are to God. We forget that the decisions we make today either bring joy or sorrow to the Creator of the universe. We lose sight of the fact that we are designed to assist our neighbours in reaching their everlasting destinations.
We can now spread the good news of God’s love that Jesus brought to the world. Before ascending to His Father, He issued a challenge to His disciples (Matthew 28:18-20). Those of us who follow Jesus are a continuation of His incarnation and mission. It is the reason He came to this world. Before He left, He told His disciples that He would send the Holy Spirit to them from on high (Luke 24:48). He did not abandon us. He infuses us with His power so that we can affect eternity by touching lives here on earth.
๐๐ผLord, help us to touch the world.
