1 SAMUEL 16:1-7
His children might have overlooked the beauty beneath the water’s surface because it resembled the freshwater lakes close to their house. There are thousands of different types of fish! It is really lovely! Never have they seen fish that vibrant!
Samuel visited Bethlehem to anoint one of Jesse’s sons as the next king. Despite the impressive appearance of Eliab, the Lord rejected him. God reminded Samuel that He looks at the heart, not just outward appearance.
We frequently just perceive people’s outward appearances and fail to recognise their inner, sometimes hidden beauty. God’s values are not always what we see. However, if we take the time to look beneath the surface, we can discover something very valuable.
