1 CORINTHIANS 12:1-11; EPHESIANS 4:11-12

Parkinson’s disease was diagnosed in a woman. The family was put in a challenging, stressful situation as a result. The husband pondered how he would be able to care for her properly while still fulfilling his other obligations. He didn’t need to worry, though, as church members stepped up and offered to help him out with meals and some of her care.

The apostle Paul explained in a letter to the Corinthian church the reason the Lord had given them their spiritual gifts. He reminded them that each of us has a spiritual gift that is given to us so that we might support one another before he detailed the variety of gifts in 1 Corinthians 12:8–10 (v. 7). God doesn’t provide His spiritual gifts to us for personal gain but to serve others, and in serving others, we serve Him.

Each of us has been given unique gifts that should be used at various times and in various ways. But each one must be used in a spirit of love for the development of the body of Christ (Ephesians 4:12). In light of the fact that we are all a part of the church, the body of Christ, wherever God has placed us, we can use the abilities He has given us to meet needs as we become aware of them.

🙏🏻Lord Jesus, help us to understand how You have gifted us to encourage other believers, and to spread the message of Your love to the world.
