JAMES 1:22–27
A minister’s wife received a call about a sick woman in her seventies who was taken to the hospital. She was unable to eat, drink, or walk. Concerned for her welfare, the church rushed to her aid, providing round-the-clock visits to her and showing Christian love to other patients, visitors, and medical staff. The church’s efforts were crucial in ensuring her well-being.
James’s letter to early Jewish Christians urged the church to care for the needy, urging believers to put their beliefs into action. He highlighted the need to care for orphans and widows.
In our churches and communities, how do we respond to individuals who are in trouble? Do we consider taking care of widows and orphans to be an essential component of living out our faith? May God make us aware of all the chances we have to help those in need, wherever they are.
