GROWING WITH THE WIND

MARK 4:36–41

In the Arizona desert, trees in a windless Biosphere 2 glass dome grew faster than normal but collapsed due to their own weight. Researchers discovered that these trees needed wind stress to grow strong, highlighting the importance of wind in maintaining a calm environment.

Jesus allowed His disciples to face gale-force winds during a nighttime crossing of waters. Despite being exhausted, they woke Jesus, wondering what He was thinking. Jesus told the wind and waves to be quiet and asked his friends why they had no faith in Him.

The disciples’ question about Jesus’ authority was based on the fact that even the wind and waves obey him. Today, living in a protective bubble may sound good, but our faith would be weak without experiencing the winds and His reassuring presence.

🙏Heavenly Father, please help us to keep in mind that everything that frightens us is a call to discover the courage to know and trust You.
