JOHN 1:1–5, 9–14
Amidst the excitement that surrounded the global release of Episode 8, “The Last Jedi,” by fans of Star Wars, CNNMoney media reporter Frank Pallotta said many people who yearn for “a new hope and a force of good at a time when the world needs heroes” found a connection with Star Wars.
Israel’s people were oppressed at the time of Jesus’ birth and yearned for a Messiah to free them from Roman rule. Jesus, not a political or military hero, arrived as a baby in Bethlehem, leading many to miss his identity. The apostle John tells us that He came to His own, but His own did not receive Him (John 1:11).
More than a hero, Jesus came as our Saviour, offering the right to become children of God to those who believed in His name, making Him the true hope the world needs.
🙏Our Saviour, Lord Jesus, we praise You for coming to earth to die so that we can live.
