ROMANS 5:1-11; JAMES 1:2
Thomas has experienced a lot. He underwent open heart surgery. The doctors then had to do the surgery again a short while later because of complications. He had just started to recover with physical therapy when he had a bicycle accident and broke his collarbone. Furthermore, Thomas lost his mother at this time. He got really down on himself. He admitted that he really did not feel he had seen God working in any tangible ways when a friend asked him if he had.
I appreciate Thomas’s honesty. I experience discouragement and doubt occasionally. Sometimes we have to look back on the circumstance before we can appreciate how our faith has developed through trials and doubts.
We can learn to trust God’s good intentions for us when we understand that He wants to use our trials to deepen our faith.
What ways has God used adversity in your life? Are you developing a stronger sense of faith in Him?
In order to strengthen our faith in Him, God may take us into troubled waters.
🙏🏻 Lord Jesus, see us through the challenges.
