GOD’S SANDPAPER

PROVERBS 27:5–17

Sam was deeply affected by a friend’s comments about his opinions, and despite his efforts to sleep, he could not. Several weeks later, he prayed for guidance on where he needed to change and where the friend was right.

His friend acted as God’s sandpaper in his life, causing raw feelings. He knew his response would shape his character. He chose to submit, confessing his pride and stubbornness, as his imperfections did not glorify the Lord.

King Solomon’s wisdom in Proverbs addresses the challenges of community life. He compares sharp words between friends to iron sharpening iron, highlighting the importance of shaving off rough edges in behaviour. The Lord can use these words to encourage change.

The Lord may be smoothing out our rough edges for His glory.

🙏 We want to submit to the shaping process, Lord, even though it hurts. Shape and polish us.
