GOD’S PALLIATIVE

PSALM 30:5

Palliative care is an approach that improves the quality of life of patients or victims and their families facing the problems associated with life-threatening illness, through the prevention and relief of suffering by means of early identification and impeccable assessment and treatment of pain and other problems. The word ‘palliative’ became renewed and popular, as if it never existed before the corona virus pandemic of 2019/2020.

What palliatives (relief) does God promise His people when trying times such as we see surfaces? Faithful people throughout the centuries have witnessed to dramatic deliverances from sickness, from financial woes, from all manner of troubles. People with flesh-and-blood have testified to miracles. They do happen. But not always.

Sometimes we are not relieved the way we thought the relief from God would come. Sometimes we merely endure. This is not such a bad thing. We are never nearer to God than when we are troubled. In times of comfort and ease we may easily forget Him. In the worst of times, we suddenly remember, “Ah, what if I asked God for help?” Sometimes the answer is the help we pray for. Sometimes the answer is “Lean on me, and you will survive and thrive.”
