GOD OF THE DEEPS

JOB 41:12–34; PSALM 104:25–26

Every time a sample is taken in the deep water, new species are discovered, according to marine biologist Ward Appeltans. During a single year, 1,451 new kinds of underwater life were discovered. There is just so much down there that we do not know.

Through three poetry chapters, God describes His creation in Job 38–40, emphasising the diversity of species, the majesty of the cosmos, and even climatic supernatural events. In chapter 41, He also talks about the strange Leviathan, a special animal with impressive power, harpoon-deflecting armour, and terrifying jaws. There is nothing on earth that can match the smoke and flames that come from its mouth.

Job 41 tells us more about God’s unanticipated nature. In Psalm 104:25–26, the psalmist elaborated on this. We discover that God made a playpen for this most scary of all animals—Leviathan.

We currently have the opportunity to explore the oceans. Our God is amazing and fascinating, and we will have eternity to discover all of His wonders.

🙏 God give your children the opportunity to explore creation in order to have a deeper understanding of You, the Creator.
