GETTING THROUGH WITH MUSCLE

2 CHRONICLES 20:2–3, 14-22

Competitive bodybuilders undergo a rigorous training cycle, initially focusing on size and strength, then losing fat and consuming less water to expose muscle. Despite appearing powerful on the day of competition, the competitors are actually at their weakest due to the decreased consumption of food.

In 2 Chronicles 20, King Jehoshaphat acknowledges weakness to experience God’s strength. He proclaimed a fast for Judah, depriving himself and his people of nourishment. When he mustered his army, singers praised God, leading to their defeat of their enemies.

Jehoshaphat’s choice revealed a strong belief in God. He deliberately decided to rely on God rather than his own human and military strength. May we look to Him and let Him be our strength instead of trying to push through the difficulties we encounter.

🙏 Lord Jesus, be the light that empowers your servant in darkness. Receive strength to do exploits in JESUS’ name. Amen.
