FREE INDEED

JOHN 8:31–37

Olaudah Equiano, a young man kidnapped and sold into slavery at the age of 11, embarked on a gruelling journey from West Africa to the West Indies, Virginia, and England, eventually purchasing his freedom at the age of 20.

Equiano, a former slave, actively participated in the movement to abolish slavery in England, writing an autobiography detailing the horrific treatment of the enslaved, a rare achievement for a former slave during that era.

Jesus fought to deliver men from the slavery of sin. He stated that if the Son sets us free, we will indeed be free. Jesus’ words should be declared wherever freedom seems unheard of, as it can liberate us from guilt, shame, and hopelessness. Trusting Jesus can lead to freedom, even in the face of unimaginable challenges.

🙏 We are grateful, Lord Jesus, for our freedom. May we grow in our ability to love You so that it reflects the love You have shown us.
