JOHN 6:25-41
Money is tight and feeding is difficult. So when there is free food, people show up anytime, anywhere. When a church, corporation, or even politician wants to attract people to a programme, presentation, or rally, they offer free food. People visit occasion after occasion just for food. Food seems to be more important in the present than whatever the future holds.
When Jesus fed a crowd of 5,000, many visited Him the next day. He challenged them, telling them that they were looking for Him because they were being fed. For some people, food was more important than the eternal life that Jesus offered in Himself. He told them He was “the bread of Life.” Some did not believe, did not accept His teachings and no longer went with Him. They wanted the food, but they did not want Him and what would be required of them to follow Him.
Jesus calls us today not to come to Him for the blessing from His hand, but to receive the eternal life that He offers and to follow Him.

“I’m feeding on the living bread,
I’m drinking at the fountain head;
And who so drinketh, Jesus said,
Shall never, never thirst again.
What, never thirst again?
No! never thirst again.
What, never thirst again?
No! never thirst again.
And whoso drinketh, Jesus said,
Shall never, never thirst again.”
