FORGIVEN!

1 JOHN 1:1-10; PSALM 119:176

A friend of mine occasionally surprises his family as he comes in after work. He would yell, “You are forgiven!” as he entered through the front door. It was not that he needed to forgive family members for wrongdoing. He was telling them that even though they had probably sinned during the day, they were completely pardoned by God’s grace.

The Apostle John states the importance of walking in the light of Jesus, which leads to fellowship and purification from sin. He warns against deceiving oneself and claiming to be sin-free, stating that confessing sins will lead to forgiveness and cleansing from unrighteousness (1 John 1:7-9).

He warns against deception and reminds us that we may make wrong choices, but grace is available for those who need it.

Not perfect; simply forgiven by Jesus! That is today’s encouraging word.

🙏Lord, we need you and your cleansing in our lives. We are lost without you.
