HEBREWS 12:1-3
Rob Sloan hopped on a spectator bus 20 miles into the Kielder marathon in England – and finished third before being discovered. When questioned by officials, he claimed that he had stopped running because he was exhausted.
As we run the race of faith, many of us can relate to the tiredness of a worn-out athlete. The book of Hebrews encourages us to run the race that has been set before us with perseverance (Hebrews 12:1). Running with perseverance necessitates putting aside the sins that obstruct our progress and shedding the burdens that slow us down. We may even have to persevere in the face of adversity.
The Bible encourages us to focus on Christ to keep our spirits from becoming weary and discouraged. We will notice Him running beside us, helping us when we stumble and encouraging us with His example, if we pay more attention to Him than to our troubles. Keeping our eyes fixed on the author and finisher of our faith will help us stay connected to our source of strength and persevere until the end.
🙏🏼 Lord, help us to keep running.
