PSALM 118:19-29
In our morning prayers at church, the person who opens the meeting always begins by thanking God for the new day. While it is clear that it is the start of a new day which we have never seen before, this prayer gets me thinking. First, because each day is a new opportunity, it will be filled with things that we cannot anticipate or even prepare for. Therefore, we need to recognise our limitations and to rely heavily on God and intentionally choose to live in His grace and strength rather than relying on our resources.
The second thing I noticed is that the newness of each day is a gift worth celebrating. It is perhaps this concept that led the psalmist to declare: “This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.”(Psalm 118:24).
Of course, today we are faced with many unknowns and some can be difficult. But the treasure of each new day is so special. Each new day is a precious gift. May we embrace each one with gratitude, trust in the Lord, and humble celebration.

🙏🏼Each new day gives us new reasons to praise You Lord. Thank You for this day.
Our God is faithful. He only deserves our praises.
