EXODUS 12:23–32
In 1990, when Nelson Mandela finally walked free after 27 years in prison, many reflected on a freedom long awaited but never denied. His release symbolised hope fulfilled after years of endurance. Like Israel, there comes a moment when God brings deliverance right on time.
From our text, God passed through Egypt, striking the firstborn, yet sparing the Israelites who obeyed His instruction to mark their doors with blood. This final plague broke Pharaoh’s resistance and led to Israel’s urgent release. It revealed both God’s judgement and His mercy towards those who trusted Him.
This teaches that freedom follows obedience. Though bondage may persist, it cannot withstand God’s power. When we obey His word, deliverance comes. Whatever holds you bound today, remember that in Christ, your freedom is certain.
