EULOGIZING THE LIVING GOD

EPHESIANS 1:3-14

When American civil rights icon Rosa Parks passed away in 2005, Oprah Winfrey considered it an honour to eulogize her. According to Oprah, “I often thought about what that took—knowing the climate of the times and what could have happened to you—what it took to stay seated” in reference to the woman who refused to give up her bus seat to a white man in 1955. “You acted without concern for yourself and made life better for us all.”

The words said at a funeral are usually referred to as an “eulogy.” Yet it can also be used to describe other instances in which we praise someone. Paul, the author of Ephesians, eulogized the true God in the book’s opening verses.

Let us keep focusing on the benefits that God has provided through Christ. When we do, just like Paul, we will discover that we are filled to the brim with a eulogy that lauds His glory.

🙏🏻Blessed Father, we are overwhelmed by Your grace. Our only adequate response is ceaseless praise.
