DRIVEN BY GOD

1 KINGS 8:54–63

A few months ago, I was invited to join a community of “driven people,” who are highly motivated and committed to achieving their goals through hard work.

Are driven people inherently good? Doing it all for the glory of God (1 Corinthians 10:31) is an unfailing test. We frequently act in ways that magnify ourselves. To make a name for themselves, some individuals made the decision to construct a tower (Genesis 11:4). They aspired to fame. They were misguided, though, because their motivation was not God’s glory.

We become driven people who want to love and serve Jesus when our highest goal is to honour God and walk in obedience. Let us pray, as Solomon did in 1 Kings 8:61, that our hearts be totally committed to the Lord our God, to live by His decrees and obey His commands.

🙏Lord, let our hearts be perfect to walk in your statutes and to keep your commandments.
