LUKE 22:24–30
The workday was long. However, he had to begin his “other” job—being a good father—as soon as he got home. His wife and children’s greetings quickly turned into “Dad, what is for dinner?” “Can you get me some water, Dad?” “Can we play football, Dad?”
Despite his desire to be a good dad, he felt uneasy about serving their needs. But recently he received a thank-you card from a church acquaintance, with the verse from Luke 22:27: “I am among you as he that serveth.”
Jesus’ mission to serve those He came to seek and save is what we all need to remember. His willingness to do dirty jobs for His followers was an opportunity to reflect His servant heart and love. Requests from our families, friends, the community, church, etc. are not just obligations but opportunities to become more like Jesus, who served His followers by laying down His life for us.
🙏Lord Jesus, help us become more like You, willing to express Your love in the many opportunities we have to serve others daily.
