JOHN 5:16–23
Sarah’s mother was battling cancer. Sarah and a friend said a prayer for her one morning. Her friend, who had cerebral palsy and had been crippled for years, pleaded, “Lord, you do everything for me. Do everything in your power for Sarah’s mother.”
Sarah was deeply moved by her friend’s declaration of dependence on God, and she reflected on the importance of acknowledging her need for God in everything.
Jesus exhibited a deep dependence on His heavenly Father during His earthly days. Jesus stated that he could only do what he saw his Father doing (John 15:19). This demonstrates His unwavering dependence on His Father.
Jesus’s dependence on the Father is the best illustration of what it means to live in tune with God. God wants His strength to permeate every minute of our lives, and every breath we take is a blessing. We are expressing our dependence on Him when we live to love and serve Him by praying constantly and relying on His Word.
