JUDGES 11:1–8, 29
“Where are you from?” That question is frequently used to learn more about someone. However, the answer is tough for many of us. We do not always want to divulge every piece of information.
Jephthah, expelled from his hometown of Gilead due to questionable background, may not have wanted to answer that question in the book of Judges. His half-brothers accused him of being the son of a prostitute. After a conflict with a hostile tribe, they wanted Jephthah back as a leader.
He consented to lead them after being assured that things would be different. Then the Spirit of the Lord came on Jephthah, according to the Bible (v. 29). He guided them to a significant triumph through faith. He is listed among the heroes of the faith in the New Testament (Hebrews 11:32).
It seems like God usually selects the most unlikely individuals to carry out His mission, does He not? Where we are from, how we got here, or what we have done are all irrelevant. The important thing is that we accept His love with faith.
🙏Lord, You do not show favouritism based on where people come from. Your children’s heritage is found in you. Use your servants again and again and take all the glory.
