PSALM 141
Charles was frustrated with his wife for not checking directions to a famous restaurant, which they had planned to dine at during their holiday in Japan, and criticised her for her poor planning.
Charles later regretted his harsh words and realised he could have checked directions himself and failed to thank his wife for the seven days of planning.
We may be tempted to let words fly without control, but we should pray as the psalmist did. Think before speaking, ensuring your words are good, helpful, gracious, and kind, as seen in Ephesians 4:29–32.
Controlling our speech involves keeping our mouth shut when irritated and seeking the Lord’s help to say the right words or not speak at all. It is a lifelong process, but God is working in us, providing the desire and power to do what pleases Him.
🙏Help us, Lord, to always consider our words before speaking. Give us the words to say and the discernment to know when to remain silent.
